Privacy Policy

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.

There are no accounts, no analytics, no cookies, no tracking, no advertising, and no forms that send data anywhere. Every calculation runs entirely in your web browser, on your device. Nothing you type into the tool — loan figures, dates, answers — ever leaves your device, and we never see it.

The one thing saved on your device

The site saves a single non-personal item in your browser's local storage: the current published mortgage interest-rate figure and the date it was fetched, so the tool loads faster. It contains no information about you. Clearing your browser data removes it. No consent banner is shown because there is nothing to consent to — this storage is purely functional and is never transmitted.

"Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control

We do not track visitors, so browser "Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control signals have no effect on this site — there is nothing to opt out of.

Third parties

No third parties collect information through this site. There are no third-party scripts, embeds, fonts, or pixels. We share nothing because we collect nothing. The site links to official government and government-sponsored-enterprise websites; once you leave this site, their privacy practices apply, not ours. Our web host, like all web hosts, may keep standard technical server logs (such as IP addresses) to operate and secure the service; we do not use them to identify anyone.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we knowingly collect no information from anyone, of any age.

Scope

This site is intended for United States residents and concerns United States mortgage-assistance programs only.

Changes

Material changes to this policy will be posted on this page with a new effective date.

Terms of Use

A free educational tool

Loss Mit Check is a free educational tool. We charge no fees and request none — ever. You may stop using this site at any time. You may accept or reject any offer your mortgage servicer makes without paying anything to anyone.

Not advice, and no professional relationship

Nothing on this site is legal, financial, tax, or housing-counseling advice, and nothing on this site is a substitute for the advice of an attorney. The tool restates published mortgage-assistance program criteria and does arithmetic — it does not know your situation and cannot advise you. Use of this site does not create any advisory, counseling, fiduciary, attorney–client, or other professional or client relationship.

Estimates only — your servicer decides

All outputs are informational estimates based on published program criteria. They are not an offer, approval, eligibility determination, prequalification, or guarantee. Only your mortgage servicer and the company that owns or insures your loan can determine actual eligibility and terms, and they are not required to modify any loan. Figures assume the accuracy of the information you enter; your servicer's numbers may differ. Program rules change — verify everything with your servicer before making any decision, and keep making your mortgage payments and stay in contact with your servicer.

No warranty

This site and all of its content are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including, without limitation, any warranty of accuracy, completeness, currency, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Program rules change frequently, and no representation is made that the content is current or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator of this site will not be liable for any damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, this site or its content — including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, and including any decision made or action taken in reliance on any output of this tool — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Third-party links; no affiliation

Links to official resources (HUD, CFPB, VA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and others) are provided for convenience only. We are not responsible for the content of any linked site, and a link is not an endorsement of us by them or of them by us. This site is not a government website and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or approved by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the Federal Housing Administration, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, any other government agency, or any lender or loan servicer.

Intellectual property

The design and original content of this site are © 2026 LossMitCheck.com. Works of the United States Government referenced by this site are in the public domain. "Fannie Mae," "Freddie Mac," "FHA," "VA," and "HUD" and any associated marks belong to their respective owners; they are used here only in their ordinary, descriptive sense to refer to those organizations and their published programs.

Prohibited use

You may not present this tool's output to anyone as an approval, eligibility determination, or advice; use the site to mislead any person; or republish its output in a way that removes its disclaimers.

General

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and, to the extent state law applies, the laws of the state in which the site operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Material changes to these terms will be posted on this page with a new effective date.

Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use this tool, and we aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA: semantic headings and labels, full keyboard operability, visible focus indicators, sufficient color contrast, and screen-reader announcements for results.

If you encounter any barrier using this site, please tell us at contact@lossmitcheck.com — we will work to address it promptly.

For educational purposes only. This is not a government website. Free, unbiased help is available from HUD-approved housing counselors at 888-995-HOPE (4673) or hud.gov/findacounselor.
